Today, the final matches of the Legends stage were fought and now we know who is still in the running for the $1,000,000 prize for the lucky victors.
Entropiq, FaZe, MOUZ, Liquid, Astralis, Evil Geniuses, Copenhagen Flames & ENCE have all gone home, leaving G2, Heroic, Natus Vincere, FURIA, NIP, Virtus.pro & Vitality as the final teams for the playoff stage of the 2021 Major.
In the last match of today, NIP blew the hopes of Copenhagen Flames, bringing their unexpectedly deep run into the Major finally to a close. Meanwhile, also today, FaZe fought hard against Virtus.pro, but were ultimately also sent home. After FaZe's defeat, olofmeister took to Twitter, where he lamented how he "really wanted to play in front of the Swedish crowd", which of course is his native country. Earlier in the week, Virtus.pro had also blown the dreams of MOUZ, formerly mousesports. On the other side of the tables, however, G2 & Natus Vincere collectively powered through the likes of Heroic, Virtus.pro, NIP (for G2), and ENCE, Entropiq, Virtus.pro & NIP (for NaVi) and came out right on top, with an incredible 3-0 record. Evil Geniuses and ENCE however, were the unfortunate teams that came out of this with a straight 0-3 record, being beaten at this stage in the Major with such poor results, will surely sting for some time.
There is now a rest day before the Playoffs start on Thursday the 4th of November, although we already know what the first set of matches will look like, and at what time. So without further delay, here are those times, which are all written in UTC/GMT timezone.
Thursday;
- 15:30 - Virtus.pro vs Heroic
- 19:00 - G2 vs NIP
Friday;
- 15:30 - Gambit vs FURIA
- 19:00 - Natus Vincere vs Vitality
The Semi-finals will then play at 15:30 & 19:00 on Saturday, with the Grand Final starting at 19:00 on Sunday.
