Three more teams have been sent home earlier than they expected as Group B came to a close this evening. forZe, OG & Complexity propel themselves to playoffs, whereas Sinners, Virtus.pro & G2 simply propel themselves into the events trash can. The favorites of G2 & Virtus.pro performed poorly all around, with G2 suffering the same catastrophic situation as Bad News Bears from Group A, going a straight 5-0 in match wins, although unlike Bad News Bears they did manage to win some maps, if not the match itself.

The superstars of Group B turned out to be OG, who won 5 out of 5 matches, followed by forZe at 4-1, and Complexity at 3-2. OG lost just two maps throughout their week in the group stages, as only forZe & Complexity rumbled OG to a 2-1 match, rather than 2-0 for OG. For forZe & Complexity, their matches were all relatively closer than OGs were, with them both pulling in plenty of 2-1 affairs, with Complexity only narrowly avoiding a loss to G2, with forZe pulling in more 2:1 matches than any other of the 3 teams that progress to playoffs, and having to arguably overcome more challenges on their way to the playoffs.

For many, Europe's G2 and the CIS team of Virtus.pro were the obvious favorites, however, when it came down to business both struggled to equate even 1+1 in the hot seat on the server. Both crashing out at the bottom of the group, with G2 right at the bottom. Both teams suffering the same unexpected exit that Astralis did in Group A.

Group C is up next, and this is certainly to be the group of death for many favorite long-standing teams. C holds nothing except huge well-known teams, with Natus Vincere, BIG, mousesports, FaZe, fnatic & Evil Geniuses on the line, but just 3 of them will make it through, and the other 3 perennial favorites go straight back home. In their last event, IEM Cologne, FaZe managed to return to relevancy with key wins over the likes of Vitality, Heroic & Gambit. However of course, Natus Vincere went on to win that tournament after brutally tearing down G2 3-0 in the final. Although of course, fnatic are 3x Major winners, although those take us back to 2015 & 2013 - the first Major, but can their current lineup match anything near their previous famous successful lineups? Meanwhile, mousesports & Evil Geniuses on the other hand will be hoping to just do better than at Cologne, where both teams came in position 10th or lower. Can FaZe maintain their relevancy, will Natus tear apart the competition as they did prior? The next 5 days will determine those, with Group C kicking off tomorrow (27th August) with the match BIG vs Natus Vincere at 11:30 GMT. This is certainly a group you don't want to miss, where each match-up promises hit after hit of chaos and strategy!
