The next edition of the Pinnacle Cup has been announced, with a bulging 32 teams competing in the tournament organized by Relog Media & sponsored by Pinnacle.
The teams will be Gambit, FunPlus Phoenix, SAW, Sinners, Nemiga, Winstrike, EXTREMUM, Dignitas, Endpoint, TeamOne, GODSENT, Lyngby Vikings, GamerLegion, HAVU, HellRaisers, EC Kyiv, Copenhagen Flames, Lilmix, Wisla Krakow, Ambush, Apeks, UMX, Case, Nordavind, KOVA, K23, hREDS, Lemondogs & Galaxy Racer. With a further two teams yet to be given the invite.
The event will be a GSL style group stage to begin, where 16 invited teams get distributed into 4 different groups, giving us 4 teams to jump over into a swiss stage, where another 12 invited teams will be waiting in the wings for them, with 8 teams progressing on. Next up will be single elimination playoffs where another four invited teams, which include Katowice winners Gambit, will do battle to get into. The GSL group stage will occur on 3rd to 5th March, with the single-elimination bracket, quarter-finals, semi-finals & grand final happening between 21st March, and the final on 4th April. With a total prize pool of $100,000, which is $80,000 for the winners and $20,000 for the runners up.
When the action kicks off, we can look forward to highlights including Gambit, who are fresh off winning the IEM Katowice 2021 event. Meanwhile, Lemondogs will be playing their first game with their new lineup in a competition, and Lyngby Vikings will be hoping their star player in NaToSaphiX will help them pull off some wins.
If you would like to watch the matches, they will be shown on 'The Esports Bible' twitch accounts, in Russian, English & Portuguese. With the competition taking part over the course of a month, they'll be breaks in the action between stages. This shouldn't be too much of an issue if you enjoy watching matches, as also occurring during the same time will be ESL Pro League which includes TeamOne & Gambit who may be short of breaks with two tournaments at a time.
