The new look team, now being led by the mousesports stalwart chrisJ, won the tournament and $40,000.

It looked like an early hammering for FunPlus, after they lost their first map in the tournament a staggeringg 2-16 to forZe. Before coming back and winning the first match 2-1, in what would become the most well fought map of the event, with the final map of Train being fought to a scoreline of 25-22 before FunPlus won their first match.

FunPlus Phoenix won three BO3 matches in a row to win the event, also overcoming SAW in the run up to the final, and then taking on and defeating Gambit 2-1 to take the tournament.

The results show further promise for the new look team, with now two events fought at, being the runner up at DreamHack Open January, and now taking the prize here at Snow Sweet Snow 1. If there were any doubters around the move and addition of chrisJ to the lineup, they have surely now being silenced.

The match with SAW went down 2-0 for FPX, with SAW putting up valiant fights in both matches, but struggling to overcome the might of Malden for FunPlus, who ended that match with 52 kills to 38 deaths, and an ADR of 96.1, whereas SAW's best player in terms of ADR, 'stadodo' only managed 79.4.

Gambit started strong on the first map in the Grand Final, Inferno. With them putting up a great pistol round and follow up rounds with the economy that was allowed to them after. At peak, Gambit was leading by 7-2, before FunPlus managed to put the wheels in motion and start knocking away at that lead, ending a firm 5-10 in favour of Gambit. What followed was a tug or war, before FunPlus narrowly avoiding overtime to take it 16-14.

Gambit replied in kind however, taking Overpass 16-10 with consistent overrunning of the FPX squad, managing only 4 rounds on the CT side to Gambit's 11. Unable to recover from such a disadvantage in the second half, Gambit took the next map 16-10. For the last map, FPX found an overwhelming performance from 'Farlig', thwarting many attempts by the Gambit side with an AWP, with 14 of his 26 kills being from the AWP. After a final tussle, FPX managed to close out the game and close in on the $40,000 prize, with Dust2 ending 16-9.

With FunPlus Phoenix clearly on the rise and looking to shine, they'll be eagerly awaiting their next tournament, which at the time of writing is still to be decided.
