Riot Games has announced the next big step, the VALORANT Champions Tour, towards becoming the next multi-generational global e-sport. VALORANT Champions Tour allows players from all over the world to show-case their skill and build their stardom through regional and international competition. The Champions tour is set to take place throughout 2021 with Red Bull and Secretlab being the founding partners for this event. Let’s take a look at the details:

Structure and Timeline:

Valorant Champions Tour is split into three tiers:

  • Challengers: This will be a regional competition where local talents go against each other to decide the best talent from each region. It is set to take place in late January across the globe. There are total three Challengers events taking place over six weeks. Eight teams will compete in each tournament, earning their places through open qualifiers. Teams that perform well in Challengers tournaments then qualify for the Challengers final. The top eight teams will compete in the Challenger Final, with prizes and qualifying slots for the next Masters event. The event will be organized by Riot and top-tier tournament partner operators.

  • Masters: Winners from Challengers event stack up against each other to get a spot at the next level. Masters event is the penultimate stage which occurs only three times a year and is similar to eight team format of Challenger final event.
  • Champions: Final stage of the Valorant Champions Tour where the top sixteen teams from around the world compete to become the first VALORANT global Champion. It will be two-week long tournament scheduled for somewhere near December, 2021.

The above three stages will takes place throughout the course of 2021. Challengers and Masters events are structured to provide multiple opportunities to the participating teams to earn points and qualify into Champions. There will be an event break after each Masters event so that the players could recharge and get ready for the next battle.

Specific details regarding the point distribution and prizing for all the events is yet to be released by Riot Games.
