Josh "shinobi" Abastado has been added to Global Esports' VALORANT division and will lead the squad throughout the APAC Last Chance Qualifier, according to Bhavin "HellrangeR" Kotwani of Global Esports on Twitter.

Global Esports secured the lone slot in the APAC LCQ competition, a last gateway towards the VALORANT Champions, a global event to be hosted later this year in Berlin, after defeating Velocity Gaming at the Nodwin powered VALORANT Conquerors Championship in South Asia. Since then, the team has been on cloud nine, and the Indian VALORANT community is excited to see Global Esports represent their country in the VCT circuit.

Shinobi has temporarily taken over as head coach at Global Esports and will work with the squad ahead of the APAC Last Chance Qualifier. As previously indicated by Ganesh “SkRossi” Gangadhar and HellrangeR, this was verified by Ganesh “SkRossi” Gangadhar while broadcasting on YouTube. HellrangeR had previously announced on Twitter that he was looking for an international coach/analyst for his squad, to which they surprise hired Shinobi. GlobalEsports will attend a boot camp in Thailand and participate in the next competition to eliminate the large latency gap between them and the other teams.

Shinobi was a founding member of Cloud9 Blue VALORANT until the two sides decided to split ways in December 2020. During his stint with Cloud9, he led the North American team to a slew of top three finishes, including Pulse and PAX Area Invitational runner-ups. The 27-year-old will now assist Global Esports in planning for the VCT APAC LCQ, however this will not be a full-time position for the former Cloud9 In-game captain.

Current Global Esports roster is as follows:

  • Bhavin “HellrangeR” Kotwani (Captain and In-game Leader)
  • Ganesh “SkRossi” Gangadhar
  • Jayanth “skillZ” Ramesh
  • Abhirup “Lightningfast” Choudhury
  • Akshay “KappA” Sinkar
  • Josh “shinobi” Abastado (Coach)
