There is currently no team in the LCS capable of stopping
100 Thieves. The squad has won six games in a row, putting together one of the
league's most powerful streaks in 2021. The team continued its dominance
tonight with a win over Team Liquid, a fellow contender, in the opening game.
Coming into tonight's match, these two teams represented two
very different sides of a similar coin, with 100 Thieves racking up wins with a
patched-together lineup led by substitute-level talents in Jenkins and Armao,

After a dominating 44-minute victory, 100 Thieves took sole possession of first place and extended their winning streak even further in a clash of the LCS' most famous dichotomy. Team Liquid was put to rest slowly by 100 Thieves. 100 Thieves put together a fantastic five-for-zero teamfight just 10 minutes into the game, crippling any advantage Team Liquid sought to establish. Just 15 minutes into the game, 100 Thieves had a 3,500 gold advantage, which they didn't relinquish for the rest of the 44-minute match.
Ssumday, if there was one guy for 100 Thieves who helped
them win tonight, it was him. Ssumday was able to convert his early top-lane
advantage into pressure across the map, completing tonight's game with a score
of 9/3/3 on Gwen — a champion that is swiftly becoming a lethal menace in the
hands of the league's most seasoned top laners.
Ssumday's most recent performance on the summer's most popular champion, Gwen, was one of the best of the split, and as a result, his KDA on Gwen has risen to 6.0, the highest among all Gwen players in North America.
With this victory, 100 Thieves have taken exclusive
possession of first place in the LCS standings. The team entered the fifth week
of the LCS Summer Split tied for first place with TSM, but with a six-game
winning run under their belt, they show no signs of slowing down and may easily
continue to trade blows with TSM over the next week.
TSM and 100 Thieves aren't scheduled to meet until July 11th.
By then, that game might be the deciding factor in the LCS playoffs between the
first and second seeds. Team Liquid has gone 4-3 in their previous seven games
and will seek to rebound against an equally shaky Cloud9 squad tomorrow.
