Team Envy has added a new member to its VALORANT lineup
ahead of their NA VCT Stage Three Challengers Playoffs opener versus TSM. Envy
today announced the addition of Jaccob "yes" Whiteaker, formerly of
Andbox.
According to Upcomer's George Geddes, several organizations were in the race to sign yay after news surfaced that Andbox was testing new players and playing without him, Noah "JcStani" Smith, and Zander "thwifo" Kim. Anthony "mummAy" DiPaolo will be put to the inactive list, and yay will start in the upcoming Challengers Playoffs, according to Envy.
Over the course of the last year, Yay has supplied a
significant amount of firepower to the Andbox team, particularly playing the
duelist role on Jett. The Andbox team has previously gone through a number of
personnel changes as well as several trials. Despite their lack of consistency,
Andbox and yay qualified for a number of Challengers tournaments during VCT,
including a position in the Stage Two Challengers Finals. Yay had a
statistically outstanding game against TSM in his final match with Andbox, but
he lost in the open qualifiers of Stage Three's final Challengers event.
For the majority of the VCT, he'll be joining an Envy lineup
that has consistently placed around the top of the NA standings. Envy finished
fourth in both the Masters One and Stage Two Challengers Finals, securing a
spot in the NA Last Chance Qualifier at the very least.
Yay will make his Stage Three Challengers
Playoffs debut against TSM, the team he most recently played against, in the
first round, with three NA spots at Masters Three: Berlin on the line. The
battle between Envy and TSM will take place on August 11th, 2021.
