IT WAS RAPID: In a clean 3-0 sweep, Team Envy beat out fan favorite Sentinels by taking the first spot in the second weekend of the Challengers. Envy becomes the first team to secure the Master spot.

HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED: To make it to the finals, Sentinels topped 100 Thieves, XSET, and Immortals without dropping a map. This resulted in a grand final supposed to be competitive, but Team Envy made it look simple instead.

Earlier in a tight 2-1 tournament, Team Envy beat Sentinels, sending Sentinels down to the lower bracket.

Sentinels had to start strong on their own map pick, Haven, a map they had not lost all year, until today. With Envy having a one-map advantage to kick off this match after advancing through the winners' match,

Envy came out red hot on Haven; jumping out on defense to a 7-0 lead while allowing just one spike plant. Eventually, they closed the half up 10-2.

Sentinels did their best to try to make a comeback, but Envy needed just three rounds to select the map of Sentinels and put it in a 2-0 hole.

Sentinels had to fight for survival on Bind, a favorite of Envy's, as if things could not get any worse for them.

But again, the first half was dominated by Envy, this time on the attacking side, closing the half leading 10-2. They stopped any last-minute momentum from Sentinels and won Bind 13-3, thus winning the series and the championship.

Sentinels had no response for "food" Wong of Envy's Victor, who was on fire with Phoenix on both maps. With just 19 deaths and an overall combat score of 383, he recorded 53 kills; easily the highest in the competition.

Team Envy fell in the semifinals on the first weekend of the VCT Challengers, while Sentinels went on to take the victory over Immortals in the first VCT Challengers Weekend.

The success and the strength of the roster of the Sentinels had many pegging them as the region's top team. But now, it seems like Team Envy is the team to beat. While the Sentinels are still a team, it was a brutally tough loss for the team.

XSET AND IMMORTALS QUALIFY FOR MASTERS WITH SENTINELS, ENVY

Along with Immortals and XSET, both teams have already qualified for the NA Masters event, so they won't be participating in NA Challengers #3. Tomorrow the open qualifiers for NA Challengers #3 begin.

That’s it for this week’s highlights of Envy’s victory at the VCT (VALORANT Champions Tour) Challengers 2 in NA. Stay tuned for more updates on VCT- 2021.
