The year's first international tournament is just around the corner, with the best teams from each region competing for the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) trophy in 2021. There have been a number of shifts in the rankings since the last update, now that all regional playoffs have concluded.

The current world champions rankings is dominated by the DWG KIA, but players from other regions are hoping to break into the top three during MSI.

It's no surprise that DWG KIA players continue to dominate the rankings, with mid-laner Heo "ShowMaker" Su sitting atop the list. The current world champions have climbed higher up the player rankings after dominating the 2021 LCK Spring Split, to the point where the top three players are all from DWG KIA. ShowMaker has been battling for the top spot all year, but jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu and bot laner Jang “Ghost” Yong-jun have now taken third and second place, respectively. At MSI, the DWG KIA players will be looking to protect their positions, with the squad as a whole being a strong favourite to win.

According to the current state of the player rankings, few players will be able to compete for the top three slots. Cloud9 mid laner Luka “Perkz” Perkovi, who is currently ranked fourth, is the nearest. At the event, Perkz will be in the same group as DWG KIA, so he might have a chance to overtake the kings of the player rankings.

MSI 2021 will be missing five players from the top ten: As of right now, five of the top ten players will not be competing at MSI, which will allow other players to move up the rankings.

Apart from the top four, only DWG KIA support Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee from the top ten will compete at MSI. This leaves players like Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon of FunPlus Phoenix, Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk of Gen.G, and other big names out in the cold, unable to accumulate points for the rankings before the summer split begins.
