The Overwatch League (OWL) May Melee Tournament final weekend is just around the corner after multiple weeks of qualifier matches and regional knockouts. Four of the best Overwatch esports teams will compete for a share of the massive $225,000 prize pool on an international showdown. The competition will kick start tomorrow and will run through May 8th, 2021.

The final weekend of the tournament features a double-elimination format in which four teams compete in a winners and losers bracket. Initially, all four teams compete in the winners' bracket until two groups fall short of their goals and are relegated to the lower levels. This format continues until the sixth match, where a champion will be crowned. Florida Mayhem, Shanghai Dragons, Chengdu Hunters, and Dallas Fuel are the four teams competing in the tournament.

Regional Knockout Recap:

East Region:

The East region knockouts kicked off with an intense match between the Philadelphia Fusion and the Shanghai Dragons. Despite being seeded fourth, the Shanghai Dragons have been considered favourites in the East against an evolving Fusion team. In the end, Shanghai Dragons won with score of 3-2.  In the second seed, the Chengdu Hunters defeated the Seoul Dynasty with a 3-1 score.

Shanghai Dragons and Chengdu Hunters advanced to the final.

West Region:

The Florida Mayhem advanced to face the Washington Justice in the West region's second seed, after defeating the Toronto Defiant in the day's first knockout match. Later, Florida Mayhem defeated Washington Justice with a score of 3-1.

Dallas Fuel dominated San Francisco Shock with 4-0 score and moved on to face the second-seeded Houston Outlaws. In the next match as well, Dallas Fuel dominated the game and handed Houston Outlaws a shocking 3-0 loss.

Dallas Fuel and Florida Mayhem advanced to the final to face the top two teams from East Region.

The May Melee finals bracket begins tomorrow at 7pm CT when the Shanghai Dragons face off against the Florida Mayhem.
