Overwatch welcomed its first update for the New Year 2021. The update brings a new free-for-all map along with limited time events, hero balance changes, and bug fixes. Let us take a look at the highlights.
New Map: Kanezaka and Kanezaka Challenge
Kanezaka is the first Deathmatch map since May 2020. It is Located in Japan next to Hanamura. Blizzard is celebrating the release of the new map with a mini event. Kanezaka Challenge is a limited time play-to-earn event which will end on January 25th, 2021. Earn rewards in addition to weekly rewards by winning nine games across the Arcade, Competitive, and Quick Play modes by the end of the event. Rewards breakdown is as follows:
- Win 3 games to earn the Pagoda Icon
- Win 6 games to earn the Yōkai Spray
- Win 9 games to earn an epic Kyōgisha Hanzo skin
You can also earn Sprays by streaming Overwatch on Twitch. Watch two hours in total and you’ll receive the Shrine District Spray; watch four hours and you’ll earn the Pawttery and Tato Takes Off Sprays. If you watch for six hours altogether, you will earn the Dragon Consumes, Bath Time, and Catchamari Sprays. That’s six total Sprays for streaming six hours. Remember, you must link your Blizzard account to your Twitch account in order receive these Sprays.
Hero Balance Changes:
- Ashe proved to be too dominant with an ability to eliminate an enemy hero with 200 health with only one headshot. So Blizzard decided to lower her aim-down-sights damage to 75 from 80 and aim-down-sights recovery time to 0.65 seconds from 0.7 seconds.
- Hanzo’s Storm Arrows’ shot recovery has been decreased to 0.25 seconds from 0.3 seconds.
- Sigma’s Experimental Barrier redeploy cool-down has been to 2.5 seconds from 1 second.
- Wrecking Ball’s Adaptive Shield per target has been reduced to 75 from 100.
