CLG's League of Legends team has had a terrible year, but the organisation is now making a roster change. CLG revealed yesterday that it will bench LCS veteran Pobelter and start former 100 Thieves mid laner Damonte for the upcoming weekend of games.

We are making a change in the mid lane. @Damonte will be starting for CLG this weekend. Thank you to our fans for continuing to support the team. We're committed to finishing this season strong. #CLGFIGHTING pic.twitter.com/56XQpL1WZa
The storied institution has been in trouble for a long time,
with 2021 proving to be one of its most turbulent years ever. Despite having
some of the league's most experienced players, the squad had a poor 10-26
record in both the Spring and Summer Splits of 2021.
Many LoL fans believed that this team, with well-known names
like Broxah, WildTurtle, Finn, Smoothie, and Pobelter, could be a dark horse
for the playoffs because almost every player on the roster has plenty of
experience with high-pressure situations, from competing in the postseason to
attending high-stakes international tournaments. However, after six weeks, it
was evident that the lineup was not working.
This could be just one of many adjustments being made to
right the ship, especially after the organisation broadcast a now-deleted video
of a "secret team meeting" in which CLG's general manager Tafokints
claimed that roster swaps would be made owing to a lack of favourable results.
The team's decision to make such a private and saddening
occasion public drew widespread criticism from the LoL community. Multiple Bud
Light sponsorship logos were also edited over the material in this serious
video, which didn't help. CLG apologised and removed the video as a
consequence.
After quitting 100 Thieves in May, Damonte, a 23-year-old,
will make his 2021 Summer Split debut. This weekend, he'll begin the split with
games versus Team Liquid, Cloud9, and Immortals. Pobelter, on the other hand,
has been tight-lipped regarding his NHL future.
When the 2021 LCS Summer Split resumes on Friday, July 16th,
2021, you can catch Damonte and CLG in action.
