Epic Games has shared more details on Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) for 2021. Epic Games has unveiled changes to the current loot pool for balance and fairness purposes. Ready or not, FNCS Chapter 2 - Season 5 is right around the corner. Professional players around the world are working tirelessly to develop team chemistry and understand the keys to victory this season. 2021 FNCS has a prize pool of $20 Million – compared to $17 Million in 2020 FNCS. Formats and Adjustments:
- All prizes have been transferred to the final.
- Players will compete in the same cross-platform player pool. This allows players across multiple platforms to play together as a team.
- Weekly qualifiers will have an extra round to drop more gradually into the final lobby.
- After qualifying for the semi-finals, the teams will be locked and they will not be able to play in the additional qualifiers.
- Semi-finals and finals are played on separate weekends to better manage players' fatigue and tournament operations.
- The top three teams from each region's finals will auto – qualify for the next season's FNCS Finals, provided all team members remain together during the next season.
Qualifiers: First Qualifier is scheduled for February 4th, 2021 and will run until February 7th, 2021; Second Qualifier will start on February 11th, 2021 and will end on February 14th, 2021; Third Qualifier will begin on February 18th, 2021 and will end on February 21st, 2021.
Each week, the top performing teams progress through various rounds of competitions and end up as a 33-team field for the final stage. The top 10 teams from each region will advance to the semi-finals. Teams who advance to the 2nd round will be awarded a series points.
Semi-Final: Semi-finals will begin on March 5th, 2021 and will end on March 7th, 2021. The teams will be placed in four groups once they advance to the semi-finals. Each group will consist of 33 unique teams. The top 8 teams from each group will advance to the final. Teams from 9th to 16th position in each group will compete in the Reboot Round.
Reboot Round: It is scheduled for March 12th and 13th, 2021. This round has single match where the winner will earn a qualifying ticket to the Finals.
Finals: Finals is set to take place on March 12th, 2021 thru March 14th, 2021. Top 33 teams from each region will compete in the final and there will be total 12 matches across two days.
