Following a deal with the Los Angeles Guerrillas, the Dallas Empire have acquired their newest starter for Call of Duty League Stage 4: Reece ‘Vivid' Drost.
Vivid had been on loan to Trash Bros since May 4th, 2021, and the Los Angeles Guerillas declared today that he will be transferred to the Dallas Empire. Vivid had been a member of the Guerillas since the 2020 season, when he was replaced in the starting lineup by Cheen earlier this month. According to Breaking Point, Vivid had a 0.95 overall K/D while in his starting position with Los Angeles, 0.95 K/D in Search and Destroy, with 0.93 K/D in Hardpoint, and 0.95 K/D in Control.
Vivid also confirmed the news on twitter.
This news follows the Empire's decision to put FeLo, who took over for star player Huke in April, on the bench day before yesterday. Dallas Empire, which is currently in third position in the CDL standings, has suffered since Huke's controversial benching. The Empire have lost six of their last nine series, going back to Stage Two, and have a 14-11 series record.
Without Huke, the squad has struggled to finish games and seems to be a shadow of its former self. That's where Vivid will have to step in and fill Huke's big shoes. Though he may not have had the same MVP performances as Huke, he has been playing Call of Duty since late 2018.
Vivid, who has been a consistent performer in his professional career, can benefit from a change of scenery. Not to mention that teaming him up with Shottzy, a world champion, might help to open up the map. It's uncertain if this transition would help Dallas return to their usual dominant form, but the organisation clearly thought a change was necessary after their poor showing at the Stage Three major.
