Former Toronto Defiant main tank Seb "Numlocked" Barton announced the retirement from competitive Overwatch last night, adding to the increasing list of players leaving Esports. The main tank player who has been a professional since the start of Overwatch, has played on many different teams in the Contendors, Overwatch League, and many different rosters. His final event was the Gauntlet, European Contenders 2020 season.

In his announcement, Numlocked said that just before the Gauntlet he realized that his heart is no longer in esports and the fire inside him that pushed him to grind and persevere has died. Further he gave a shout out to everyone that was on a team he played for or against. He also appreciated the fans that followed and supported him the last five years.

Before starting his career in competitive Overwatch he played for G2 Esports before ending up with Team Dignitas and NRG Esports. He played the first season of the Overwatch league with the Los Angeles Valiant. He was one of four tanks named to the roster.

At the end of the season, NumLocked was one of a handful of players released by the team. Prior to being called up to play for Defiant earlier in the season, he played for rival teams including the British Hurricane, Team Envy, and the Montreal Rebellion.
