At MSI 2021, there were a few players who rose to the occasion and stood out among their peers. Here are our top 5 players you should watch out for the rest of the year:
Cloud9’s Fudge:
Cloud9's rookie top laner Fudge is a rising star of the LCS.
From the 2021 LCS Lock In to now, this 18-year-old has exuded confidence, as
evidenced by his first MSI appearance when he got his hands on a carry pick.
Fudge was the first or second-most consistent player on C9's
experienced roster at MSI, despite his stats not being particularly impressive
at first glance. He remained steadfast for his team in multiple situations of
playmaking and skirmishing, whether it was making huge, game-changing plays on
Lee Sin or finding the perfect angle to enter a teamfight on Malphite and Sion.
Fudge has established himself as a genuine contender for the best in his role back at home, and he should continue to be a focal point for his team as the season progresses.
PSG’s Doggo:
The appearance of Doggo, Unified's temporary replacement,
was one of PSG's biggest surprises of the tournament. He was a last-minute sub
who had to learn how to play with completely new teammates and a new coach in
the span of a week after joining Beyond Gaming. Despite this, he was one of the
few players to win the hearts of League fans with his outstanding performance
at MSI 2021.
According to Oracle's Elixir, Doggo was able to keep up with his major region counterparts in Iceland, having the second-highest KDA and the third-most kills in the tournament.
DWG KIA’s ShowMaker:
Despite the fact that DWG KIA did not win the MSI trophy, ShowMaker was the epitome of consistency. According to Oracle's Elixir, the superstar mid laner had the highest KDA at MSI, as well as the most dominant early-game stats of anyone in his role.
RNG’s Xiaohu:
RNG won its second MSI championship in the organization's
history, thanks to outstanding gameplay by Xiaohu. In the rumble stage, Xiaohu
had the highest KDA of any top laner and was by far the best early-game player
in the tournament. He didn't get much time on his classic Lucian pick, but he
was still a threat against champions like Lee Sin, Gragas, and Gnar. Overall,
the 23-year-old veteran provided the consistency and greatness that we've come
to expect from a player of Xiaohu's stature.
RNG’s GALA:
GALA played an important role in RNG’s victory in MSI 2021 championship. The 20-year-old brings the flash and flair that we saw bloom in the LPL Spring Split playoffs in 2021, and he's slowly begun to take up the legacy that his predecessors left for him. According to Oracle's Elixir, the explosive ADC concluded MSI with the most kills and the second-best early-game stats in the tournament.
