Evil Geniuses (EG) were named Coaching Staff of the Year in the LCS' first round of end-of-season award winners, which were announced earlier today.
After finishing third in the 2021 LCS regular season, the EG staff, led by head coach Peter Dun and assisted by assistant coaches Conor "Artemis" Doyle and Gabriel "Turtle" Peixoto, received first-place accolades. First-place votes were also given to the coaching staffs of 100 Thieves, TSM, Golden Guardians, and Immortals.
Behind a strong team is a coaching staff allowing them to reach their full potential.

After falling out of favor early in the Spring Split and posting a lackluster 0.500 record for the first half of the season, EG exploded in the summer, emerging as a contender for the LCS title. In fact, EG's second-half performance was so impressive that the team's 18-9 record would have been good enough for a share of first place if the LCS had preserved its original setup, when teams' records were reset before the Summer Split.
The organization's decision to make a midseason roster move at the AD carry position contributed to EG's back-half supremacy. EG's coaching staff made history by bringing in rookie ADC Danny to replace Deftly in the starting lineup. Danny is the only player in LCS history to play a game in the Academy before making his league debut.
Danny's leap from amateur to LCS was a risk for EG, but it paid off handsomely for the squad. Danny had a KDA of 4.4 and a DPM of 555.9 during the split, which was impressive. According to League analytics site Games of Legends, both of those marks were among the top three among qualified LCS ADCs this summer. Danny was nominated to the second LCS All-Pro second team as a result of his outstanding performance, finishing off a fantastic breakout season.
EG's coaching staff was also one of the few in the league to make successful use of substitute players during the season. Contractz, a veteran jungler, was a devastating weapon off the bench this season, and EG won every game he played in. EG will seek to continue their late-season surge in a first-round playoff showdown with Dignitas this weekend after winning 18 of their final 24 games.
