The introductory Call of Duty has begun to make changes to its roster already.

Almost after a week after finishing third at the 2021 Call of Duty League Championships, the Dallas Empire decided to part ways with Vivid and Crimsix. Vivid is known for stabilizing the team after a rough match they had before. He is a mid-season acquisition. Crimsix, having achieved the most success in competition in Call of Duty eSports history who was also named as the first CDL Championship Most Valuable Player when Dallas won the world title in August 2020. It appears that the franchise seems to move on from these two players, each said that they were restricted, free agents. This means that their contracts will have to be traded or to be brought by any prospective teams.

This was not a surprising move made by Dallas since this was the only team in the 12-team league not to achieve the starting player last offseason. The fans seem to be surprised at Crimsix’s leaving and the time of the move. As he was one of the three players in Call of Duty eSports history to win three world title events.  His experience and leadership played a vital role in the team to move towards success in the 2020 season.

Considering these two changes by Dallas Empire, it stands in the third position to announce differences in the roster. The Seattle Surge could not qualify for the $2.5 million CDL Championship, decided to release its whole team and the head coach. The Paris Legion, the team which did not compete in the final event of the season, decided to change the entire roster. This was due to a poor regular-season record.

A spokesperson stated that the team was heading in a new direction for the next season. Letting the players know as early as possible in the offseason had always been important to give the team and the players’ opportunity to find the best situation for the future. He also said that Crimsix was obviously special and had brought the championship to Dallas. The organization would always love him for that. Vivid came great this year and proved he deserved a starting spot in the CDL. They would have more roster updates in the future.

Mike “Hastr0” Rufail, who is Envy chief gaming officer thanked Crimsix and Vivid via Twitter. He added that the team could not become complacent in fixing issues regarding their team dynamic.
